Get ready to let go and loosen up with a 2-day hands-on, instructional workshop designed to introduce students to gel plate collage paper printing and an intuitive technique that merges collage, paint and mixed media elements to create bold and beautiful blossoms and blooms. All skill levels are welcome. Supply List Required Items: Gelli Plate or Similar Silicone Plate: (instructor will have a few available to borrow) Brayer roller: 4 inch size recommended Paper: Hanshi Acid Free Rice paper (recommended), tissue paper, scrapbooking paper, printer paper, deli paper (not all papers are required and instructor will supply samples for printing) Acrylic Paint: Acrylic artist paints (craft paint, tube acrylics or fluid acrylics in a variety of colors recommended) Matte Medium: (preferred) or Elmer’s Glue (instructor will supply Elmer’s Glue) Canvases or Cold Press Paper: 1 or 2 in recommended sizes 8”x10” to 11”x14". (alternative 140# to 300# cold press paper) White and/or Black Posca Acrylic Pen(s) : or other brand of acrylic pen. Other colors are optional. Brushes: Several acrylic brushes in varied sizes, (instructor preferred economical brand - Royal & Langnickel Soft Grip Golden Talon) Styrofoam Plates or Palette for paint Plastic Tablecloth to protect table surface (available at Dollar Store) Optional Items - Instructor will have a limited supply Stencils: Use the supplied stencils or whatever stencils you have on hand. Pattern making tools: consider gathering items with texture, like sponges, styrofoam, rubber grippers, corrugated cardboard, etc. (instructor will supply some options) Floral reference photos: These can be helpful for composition and inspiration. Susan’s use of color and texture has become an integral part of her signature style and she is excited to share her process with her students.
