Anne Abgott's "Iris"
April 13th, 10am-3pm
Several students requested this subject ! I have always ( myself) had a difficult time separating the folds and swirls of the petals of this flower . A lot of time in this class will be about finding the values to push back and pull forward these troublesome petals. Please be sure to have a black and white copy of the photo. Maybe two ? Try darkening your black and white. Have the drawing carefully done ahead of the class on paper and size of your choice. I will be working on 300 lb paper, and smaller than 16x20 for ease of teaching. Have a camera handy for screenshots. Also have all your paints handy . The essential paints are as follows. No masking please Round and flat brushes Round 2,4,6,10, 14 Flat 3/4 or one inch angle Eradicator or any tool you are comfortable with to lift and adjust values. Naples yellow Holbein Gamboge Aureolin Yellow ochre Quin Gold Verditer Blue Holbein Cobalt blue Permanent Rose Opera Mineral Violet Holbein Quin Magenta Sap Green Burnt Sienna Brown Madder Indigo Transparent orange Horadam Schminke Russian Green or Deep Dap Green by Daniel Smith I have never painted this photo before and am very excited to attack it! Looking forward to meeting all of you!
