The Villa Serena Inn began hosting seasonal guests in 1926. It was called the most beautiful apartment house on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Its original owner, a prominent Wall Street financier, directed that no expense was to be spared in its construction and elaborate furnishings, which surpassed several million dollars at that time.
During the colorful "Roaring 20's" of the last century, The Villa Serena Inn hosted such American legends as Baseball Great, Babe Ruth, and Champion golfer, Bobby Jones.
The Villa Serena Inn is listed in the National Register of Historic Places for its outstanding historical significance. The Mediterranean Revival styled architecture resembles a 16th Century Venetian Palace.
